Benalmadena is situated on the Costa del Sol, about twenty two km southeast of the provincial capital Malaga. It is divided in three main areas: Benalmadena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Costa, although high urbanization and population growth tends to unify the three towns. Benalmadena Pueblo, the oldest part, is a typical whitewashed Andalusian village with narrow streets and relaxing squares with formidable viewpoints of the Costa del Sol, given the height at which the town is located (almost 300 meters) and its proximity to the sea.
Arroyo de la Miel, a district that owes its growth to the local train station and is the centre in the town, concentrates much of the population and municipal services, meanwhile Benalmadena Costa is the most is the tourist offer of sun and beach: large hotels, casino, marina and shops of all kinds.
